The slaughter box, esp for cattle, has a system of moving arms (20, 21, 22) which hold the animal's neck and lift its head into a position convenient for slaughtering. Two of the arms (20, 21) are generally vertical in position and pivoted so that in their active position they press against the animal's neck from both sides behind the head while the third bar (22), situated in front of the other two, presses against the animal's chin and lifts its head. Another arm, at the rear of the box, pushes the animal forward so that its neck is between the two vertical arms. All of the arms are actuated by power cylinders (33, 39).
