Adhesive bonding appts, and method, using non compressible beads

The method for joining a first and second member comprising the steps of: a) mixing a plurality of non-compressible beads with an adhesive to form a mixture; b) applying the bead and adhesive mixture to at least one of the members; c) placing the first and second members together; and, d) hemming the first member into overlapping relationship with the second member to define a joint. The beads provide a substantially uniform gap between the first and second members to reduce adhesive from being squeezed out of the joint. The beads are mixed with said adhesive in a preselected substantially uniform concentration. The preselected concentration of the beads in the mixture is sufficiently high such that the beads fail to read through to an outer surface of the first member, subsequent to the hemming step.
