Buffer-storage of slack-wound string, cable or wire on threaded sleeve

The method involves threading of string (12) through a freely movable handling unit (11) and a guide (2) at one end of a rotary shaft surrounded by a cylindrical sleeve (3). The string is then passed through a gripper (4) which slides along the external thread (6) of the sleeve towards the drive unit (5). The sleeve is then rotated with the guide, while the gripper is constrained by its supports (7,8) to move linearly without rotating. The portion of the string immediately behind the guide is buffer-stored between the threads on the sleeve which are traversed by the sliding gripper.
