The balance and control system includes a mounting for attachment to the body of a helicopter, and an electrical supply system enabling the control of the system and the taking of photographs by radio control from the helicopter. There is a support (40) for the camera box (140) and a video camera (80) which can be orientated, with the centre of gravity of this assembly always being situated at the middle of the axis about which it pivots. This pivot axis cuts the axis of the helicopter rotor at right angle. There is provision for marking each of the photographs taken by the camera, and measuring the vertical position of each slot. A cover offers protection against dirt, and the mounting system offers protection against mechanical shocks to the camera and video equipment.
