A method of cleaning and sanitising a hard surface which comprises contacting the surface with an aqueous composition comprising: (i) an alkaline builder; (ii) an amphoteric or quaternary biocide; (iii) one or more detergent surface active agents; (iv) optionally a chelating agent; and (v) water.
