Correcting line faults in swept image from array of infrared photodetectors

The line noise correction procedure commences with determination of the signals representing the differences between the outputs of pairs of photodetectors. A histogram of the differences is prepared for each position in the array of photodetectors. The principal mode of each histogram is extracted to give from its position an estimate of the relative potential shift between outputs of each pair of photodetectors. These are applied to each sweep to correct the signals from the photodetectors. The principal mode of the histogram is located by dividing intervals in the histogram into at least three sub-intervals and moving toward the two more populated sub-intervals.
