PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a time gain compensation in response to the kind of an inspection, by a method wherein the amplification factor of the sequence of an ultrasonic echo signal is controlled by selecting time gain compensation characteristics in response to the selection of a specified ultrasonic diagnosis processing method, and at the same time, the selected time gain compensation characteristic is displayed. SOLUTION: When a desired processing is selected by using the control on a control panel 28, the information is transmitted from the control panel 28 to a setting memory 72 and a setting controller 70. The setting controller 70 detects a control variable for the processing in the setting memory 72, initializes the device, and controls a scanning head and an echo signal processing. The setting controller 70 controls the gain of a time gain compensation amplifier 50 based on optimum time gain compensation characteristics, and provides a graphic information to an image processor 60 so that a visual display of the optimum time gain compensation characteristic may be shown on an image display device 62. |
