PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a useful oxygen selective adsorbent by supporting a transition element complex on a non-zeolite crystalline or non-crystalline solid and specifying an oxygen absorbing speed and loading capacity. SOLUTION: A solid phase transition element complex containing a chelating ligand containing transition element ions is supported on a high surface area base material so as to be arranged at a uniform interval, and the embedded transition element ions can approach an oxygen-containing gas flow when the gas flow is brought into contact with an oxygen selective adsorbent and have high oxygen selectivity. The oxygen loading capacity of this adsorbent is larger than 0.3 mmol/1 g adsorbent and the oxygen adsorbing/absorbing speed thereof is higher than 0.3 mmol/1 g adsorbent. The transition element complex consists of metal ions such as Co (II) or Ni (II), a ligand such as porphyrin or a Schiff base and an axial base containing an N-, S- or O-heterocyclic ring or an amine. A support is composed of single oxide, composite oxide or carbon.
|
