PRODUCTION OF MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE AND DESULFURIZATION METHOD

PURPOSE: To produce a concn. Mg(OH)2 slurry and to enhance the factor of utilization of a desulfurizing agent while keeping the stable operation of a desulfurization equipment in a desulfurization method absorbing and removing sulfur oxide in exhaust gas by a soln. containing a Mg-based desulfurizing agent. CONSTITUTION: A desulfurizing treatment soln. is oxidized by gas containing oxygen and a basic compd. obtained by baking and slaking dolomite is added to the oxidized soln. to subject the soln. to double decomposition and the soln. after double decomposition is separated by a wet classifier 6 and an Mg(OH)2 slurry is returned to a desulfurization column in an amt. necessary for desulfurization and the remainder thereof is conc. and separated to be taken out of the system and a gypsum dihydrate slurry is oxidized to convert Mg(OH)2 following the slurry to MgSO4 . Gypsum dihydrate is sedimented and separated to be taken out of the system as gypsum and the supernatant soln. after the separation of gypsum is subjected to double decomposition along with the soln. after the oxidation of the desulfurizing treatment soln.
