PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for the treatment and conditioning of the dry and wrinkled skin, hair or nail aged or damaged with light by combining a lactate dehydrogenase inhibitor with a carboxylic acid at a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This composition is produced by combining about 0.001-20 wt.%, especially about 0.1-10 wt.% of a lactate dehydrogenase inhibitor selected from tartronic acid, pyruvic acid, an alkyl pyruvate, 2-ketomalonic acid, glyoxylic acid and their combination and about 0.01-20 wt.%, especially about 4-8 wt.% of a coactivation component selected from acetic acid, acetoacetic acid, succinic acid, fumaric acid, cis-aconitic acid, β-hydroxybutyric acid and their mixture and adding a vehicle to the obtained composition. The penetration of the active component into the skin can be promoted by keeping the pH of the composition to about 3-5, especially 3.5-4.5. The composition is toptically applicable to the human skin especially as an agent for promoting the proliferation of cells and the synthesis of collagent. |
