PURPOSE: To enable the sufficient radiation of far IR rays even at ordinary temp. and to effectively utilize a far IR radiator to various kinds of applications by putting power formed by pulverizing one kind of quartz-schist having a component compsn. including respectively prescribed amts. of SiO2 , Al2 O3 and Fe2 O3 into a small bag. CONSTITUTION: HORAI stone A which is one kind of quartz-schist, contains the component compsn. consisting of 80 to 90wt.% SiO2 , 8 to 9wt.% Al2 O3 and 0.7 to 0.8wt.% Fe2 O3 , and contains others, such as trace TiO2 , CaO, MgO, K2 O and Na2 O. High emissivity is obtd. with this HORAI stone A even at a wavelength of >=24μat which the high emissivity is not obtainable with ordinary far IR ceramics. Further, the emissivity of the far IR rays increases exceedingly when a temp. of >=22 deg.C is applied thereon. The far IR radiator 1 is formed by putting P2 of the powder B obtd. by pulverization P1 of the HORAI stone A into the small bag and, therefore, the radiator is effectively usable to various kinds of the applications as a material to radiate the FAR IR rays at ordinary temp. which is not possible heretofore.
