PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dental composition most suitable as a restorative material, etc., by compounding a radio-opaque filler having a specific refractive index with a resin base composed of a brominated or iodinated (meth)acrylate monomer having high refractive index matching the refractive index of the filler. SOLUTION: This dental composition is produced by compounding a resin base having a refractive index of 1.60-1.65 and composed of at least one brominated or iodinated acrylate monomer or methacrylate monomer with a filler having a refractive index difference of±0.05 relative to the refractive index of the resin base. The monomer is preferably a compound of the formula I [X is O, C(=O)-O or NHC(=O)-O; R is H, OH, CH3 , group of the formula II (Z is Br or I; (p) is 3-5), methacryloyloxy or acryloyloxy; R<1> is H or CH3 ; (m) and (t) are each 0 or 1; (n) is 3-5], especially a compound of the formula III (R<2> is H, OH or group of the formula II; (q) is 0 or 2-4). The filler is preferably apatite, hydroxyapatite, modified hydroxyapatite, etc.
