PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an alumina-silicon carbide composite by which dense sintering is enabled even by a gas pressure sintering method giving an article of a complex shape and a large-sized article. CONSTITUTION: A powdery mixture contg. 0.1-30vol.% SiC powder in alumina powder is compacted, surrounding powder of alumina of <=3.0μm average particle diameter and/or silica of <=5.0μm average particle diameter and carbon is put around the resultant compact and then the compact is sintered in gaseous Ar or N2 under atmospheric pressure or elevated pressure. |
