PURPOSE: To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject compound useful as a therapeutic agent, etc., for ovarian, mammary cancer, lung cancers, etc., by culturing a cell or a tissue of a plant capable of producing a taxane type diterpene in the presence of an oxidizing agent and recovering the produced oil from the resultant cultured product. CONSTITUTION: A cell or a tissue of a plant capable of producing a taxane type diterpene (e.g. Taxus baccata Linn) is bedded on a solid culture medium containing naphthaleneacetic acid and cultured in the dark at 25 deg.C by stationary culture to produce a callus, which is then cultured in a culture medium containing an oxidizing agent (e.g. potassium peroxodisulfate) at 25 deg.C for 21 days by shaking culture, then collecting the cultured cell of the plant capable of producing the taxane type diterpene by filtration, freeze-drying the collected cell, extracting the dried callus and culture medium with methanol, dichloromethane, etc., and purifying the extract by a high-performance liquid chromatography. Thereby, the objective taxane type diterpene (e.g. taxol) useful as a therapeutic agent, etc., for ovarian, mammary, lung cancers, etc., is efficiently obtained. |
