PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus which enable forming of a rear end of a tampon, a string and a closed end part of a tube in shapes as desired. SOLUTION: When a tampon 1 having a string 13 is enclosed and advances together with a cylindrical support 3, it is surrounded in a tubular wrapping body 9. The tubular wrapping body 9 is formed on the perimeter of the support and the lower end of the wrapping body 9 is closed by forming panels 9d at least partially overlapping one another. Before separation from the support, a closed end part 9c of the wrapping body is deformed by a heated tool. The tool forms a center recessed part in the external surface of the closed end part. The string 13 is wound on the top surface of the closed end part along the rim part thereof by moving the tampon downward within the support 3 faster than the progress of the deformation stage. The tampon 1 is further advanced downward to remove the tubular wrapping body 9 from the support. |
