PURPOSE: To increase the propelling performance of a ship and also increase the steering performance of it. CONSTITUTION: A strut 10 is suspended from a stern part 9, and supported rotatably on a bearing 11. Also a vertical shaft 20 is arranged inside the strut 10 and supported on it rotatably. An outer propeller shaft 3 of which front side propeller 5 is fixed at the rear end part and an inner propeller shaft 4 of which rear side propeller shaft 6 is fixed at the rear end part are pivoted in a propeller pot 15 fixed to the end part of the strut 10. Then the lower end of the vertical shaft 20 is connected to the front end part of two propeller shafts 3 and 4 through bevel gears 18, 19, and 21 so as to form a counter- rotating propeller device 2. To the strut 10, a ring gear 12 is installed. In addition, a pinion 14 attached to the output shaft of a swing motor 13 is meshed with the ring gear 12 so as to form a swing mechanism 8. By the rotational driving of the swing motor 13 of the swing mechanism 8, the propellers 5 and 6 are rotated in horizontal plane through the strut 10. |
