<p>PURPOSE: To enable the protection of motor side equipment such as a reduction gear in the case of excessive torque acting from the load side by providing a torque transmission means for transmitting torque generated by a motor to a steering system, interposingly with a friction engaging transmission means for generating a slip when torque exceeding the required value acts. CONSTITUTION: The upper end part of an output shaft 25 with the lower end part provided with a pinion engraved so as to be meshed with a rack is engaged with the lower part spline of a torsion bar 23, and a wheel 32 is fitted with play to the periphery of the base part of the output shaft 25. The friction face 41a of a recessed part of truncated cone shape is formed at an input member 41 integral with the wheel 32, and the friction face 42a of the protruding part of truncated cone shape of an output member 42 fitted in the axially movable state to the periphery of the output shaft 25 is engaged with the friction face 41a to constitute a friction engaging transmission means 40. The output member 42 is energized to be pressed to the input member 41 by a spring 43. Accordingly, when torque of high rotation acts from the load side, a slip is generated between the friction face 41a and the friction face 42a so as to protect motor side equipment from damage.</p> |
