PURPOSE: To obtain an insecticidal and acaricidal composition comprising a combination of a specific compound which is effective for insect pests but inferior in ovicidal effect on mites with a macrolide compound selected from avermectin compounds and milbemectin compounds. CONSTITUTION: This insecticidal and acaricidal composition comprises at least one compounds of formula I (R is a bromodifluoromethoxy or -ethoxy; X is C, Si; Y is O, C2 ; Z is H, F) and at least one macrolide compound selected from avermectin compounds of formula II (R is sec.-CH4 H9 butyl or isopropyl) and milbemectin compounds of formula III (R is methyl, ethyl) as active ingredients. In the composition, the compound of formula I bears BrF2 CO as R, C as X, O as Y and H as Z. The spectrum of this combined composition is markedly widened in comparison with the cases when its ingredients are separately applied to manifest a synergistic effect in insecticidal effect and long-activity. In addition, this composition shows a marked effect even on insect pests resistant to pyrethroid insecticides. |
