PURPOSE: To provide the method for producing theπ-conjugated polymer, safe and suitable for the mass production of the polymer without relating to the shape of the obtained polymer. CONSTITUTION: 1 Equivalent of a dibromo or diiodo monomer is polymerized in the presence of >=0.01 equivalent of palladium or its compound as a catalyst, >=0.25 equivalent of hydrazine as a reducing agent, and >=2 equivalents of sodium or potassium hydroxide as a base in an alcohol as a solvent at 50 deg.C to the refluxing temperature for >=2hrs.
