摘要 PURPOSE: To accurately and quickly detect the failure of a steering angle sensor by determining the occurrence of the steering sensor failure when there is no change in a steering wheel angle detected by the steering angle sensor when a rolling occurs in a car body for a specified period. CONSTITUTION: In an electric control device 15 for inputting the output signals of a steering angle sensor 11, a car speed sensor 12, vertical acceleration sensors 13a to 13d and stroke sensors 14a to 14d, whether a car body is in a rolling state or not is determined by calculating the rolling speed of the car body (R) and comparing this calculated value (R) with a specified reference value0 . When the occurrence of rolling of R>=R0 is found, determination is then made as to whether there is a change in a steering wheel angleθor not by comparing a current steering wheel angleθt with a previous steering wheel angleθt-1. Then, determination is made as to whether car body rolling occurs and a no change state in the detected steering wheel angleθcontinues for a specified period, if YES, the failure of the steering angle sensor 11 is determined.
