PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely connect an airbag cover to a dashboard by means of hinges by securing a stiffening body under compression to a stiffening panel, and pressing the material of the stiffening panel into an opening in the stiffening body after this compression process. SOLUTION: An airbag cover 2 is molded integrally with the stiffening panel 1 of a dashboard and covers an airbag folded and incorporated therebehind, in such a manner that the airbag can be swung open. A mat-shaped stiffening body 6 having an opening 5 therein is secured to the airbag cover 2 in such a way as to be in close proximity to the inner surface 4 of the stiffening panel in order to prevent the airbag cover 2 from being broken under load at a connecting line 3. The stiffening body 6 compresses the inner surface 4 of the stiffening panel, and after this compression process the material of the stiffening panel 1 is pressed into the opening 5 in the stiffening body 6. Thus, the airbag cover 2 can be surely connected to the dashboard by means of hinges.
