PURPOSE: To provide the subject apparatus, designed to pick the upper and lower edges of the cut end face of a fried bean curd with a pair of picking members comprising a specific constitution and pull the fried bean curd and capable of opening a mouth without breaking the fried bean curd due to no excessive force applied to picked parts of the fried bean curd. CONSTITUTION: This apparatus for opening a mouth of a fried bean curd is obtained by initially lowering an upper pressing pawl 32 of an upper picking member 30, lifting the lower pressing pawl 32a of the lower picking member 30a, nipping the vicinity of a cut end face 61 of the transversely facing fried bean curd 6, thereby making the end face 61 slightly bulgy, then respectively bringing an upper auxiliary pawl 33 and a lower auxiliary pawl 33a close to the upper pressing pawl 32 and the lower pressing pawl 32a, surely nipping the upper edge 62 of the end face 61 with the upper pressing pawl 32 and the upper auxiliary pawl 33 and the lower edge 63 of the end face 61 with the lower pressing pawl 32a and the lower auxiliary pressing pawl 33a, forming a rent in the end face 61, subsequently relatively separating the nipping members 30 and 30a, tearing the wall thickness of the fried bean curd 6 from the rent without applying an excessive force thereto, opening the mouth, covering the tips of the upper and lower pressing pawls 32 and 32a with elastic covering layers and preventing the picked parts of the fried bean crud 6 from breaking. |
