PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition whose flame resistance falls under the category of Grade V-0 of UL Standards and which has excellent impact resistance by compounding a specific graft copolymer with a specific polyarylene sulfide in a given proportion. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises 90-99.5% polyarylene sulfide and 0.5-10% graft copolymer which comprises an olefin copolymer comprising preferably 70-99% repeating units of anα-olefin (e.g. ethylene) and preferably 30-1% repeating units of a glycidyl ester of anα,β-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (e.g. glycidyl methacrylate) and, chemically bonded thereto through branching or crosslinking, at least one polymer comprising repeating units represented by the formula [wherein R is H or a 1-6C alkyl and X is benzyl, COOCH3 , COOC2 H5 , COOC4 H9 , COOCH2 CH(C2 H5 )C4 H9 , CN, phenyl, or maleimido], the graft copolymer having anα-olefin unit content of 30-59%.
