PURPOSE: To moderate the inclination of the temperature distribution of a heating roller by a fan for cooling disposed at the side part of a heat roller type fixing device. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a rotating direction switching means allowing the fan 28 disposed on one end side of the fixing device 23 and set for cooling the circumference of the fixing device 23 to be freely rotated in a normal direction and in a reverse direction and switching the rotating direction of the fan 28 and a fan control means periodically control the switching action of the rotating direction switching means. By periodically switching the rotating direction of the fan 28, the bias of the temperature distribution constituted so that temperature is raised only on one side of the heating roller 4 and lowered only on the other end side is moderated. |
