The cultivator consists of a tool-carrying bar (4) connected to a tractor three-point hitch, and at least two cultivation assemblies, each comprising a support (6) with two C-shaped tines (7) which are joined together at the bottom to form a transverse V-shaped tool, and a chopping rotor (8) for the sugar cane mulch which accumulates in front of the tines. The rotor is positioned so that its trajectory bisects the angle formed by two adjacent tines. The mulch chopping rotor can be in the form of a circular saw or a rotary plate (20) with pivoted radial arms (23) projecting from its edge. The rotor can turn inside an adjustable casing (22).
