Measurement of forces exerted during walking

Two separate motorised treadmills (E1,E2) are mounted side by side to correspond to the two legs of a walker. Each treadmill has a rigid frame (5) and a motor (10) driving rollers (8,9) which support an endless belt (2). The rigid frame (5) may be monoblock or constructed from various members but a part of it (5e) is in sliding contact with the upper section of the belt (2). Each frame (5) is supported by quartz force sensors capable of detecting the three orthogonal components of any dynamic or quasi static force. The sensors are connected to a common baseplate (4).
