PURPOSE: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode having no capacity reduction by forming a binder from a gum fermented and produced mainly by use of a sphingomonas genus in an electrode having a layer consisting of a hydrogen storage alloy powder and a binder in a prescribed weight ratio fixed thereto. CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy electrode can be manufactured by applying, to a conductive support body, a paste prepared by adding a hydrogen storage alloy powder to a binder aqueous solution so that the weight ratio of the binder contained in the binder aqueous solution to the hydrogen storage alloy is 0.1-2.0:99.9-98.0 followed by kneading, and drying it followed pressure connection. As the binder, a gum produced by use of a sphingomonas genus having good binding property is used. Since the paste thus has good binding property, a satisfactory electrode can be provided even when the conductive support body is a two-dimensional punching metal. |
