PURPOSE: To greatly reduce the power consumption by sending only a specific signal out to a transmission line on a transmission side through a means which converts the signal into a signal for transmission and obtaining the received signal for transmission on a reception side through a means which reconverts the signal into the original signal. CONSTITUTION: In operation mode like stand-by mode wherein an analog video signal 1 is not sent and only an analog audio signal 2 is transmitted, a power circuit 39-1 supplies electric power to an A/D converting circuit 3-2 and a P/S circuit 41 and stops supplying electric power to an A/D converting circuit 3-1, a multiplexing circuit 6, etc. At this time, a power circuit 40-1 supplies electric power to an S/P circuit 43 and a D/A converting circuit 23-2 on the reception side with a control signal 37 from a control signal generating circuit 33-2 and stops supplying electric power to an S/P circuit 18, a demultiplexing circuit 20, and a D/A converting circuit 23-1. Consequently, a multiplexing circuit 6, separating circuit 20, and the A/D converting circuit 3-1 concerning in a video signal, D/A converting circuit 23-1, etc., are stopped from operating and the power consumption of the circuits which are turned OFF is reducible. |
