PURPOSE: To provide a superconducting stranded wire that achieves low ac losses by forming a predetermined cover layer and an alloy layer made of specific metals into a superconductor. CONSTITUTION: A Cr cover layer and a Cr-alloy layer the alloy components of which are one or two kinds or more of metals selected from among Ni, Fe, Mn, Ti, Sb, Zr and Zn are formed in sequence to form an Nb3 Sn superconductor constituting an Nb3 Sn superconducting stranded wire. Thus not only the Cr cover layer but also the alloy layer of Ni, Fe, Mn, Ti, Sb, Zr, or Zn and Cr are formed so that a high resistance layer that sufficiently inhibits a coupling current between the superconductors can be made, resulting in the Nb3 Sn superconducting stranded wire with little ac loss. |
