PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a thermoelectric conversion system by providing a member for suppressing crack caused by thermal stress accompanied with thermal deformation of a thermoelectric element comprising at least a pair of P-type and N-type semiconductors juxtaposed between heat-exchangers. CONSTITUTION: Two heat exchangers 1, 2 are arranged while facing the inner surfaces 1b, 2b nearly in parallel with each other at an interval for containing a thermoelectric element 3 and an electrode 6. The thermoelectric element 3 comprises a plurality of P type semiconductors 4, 4,... and N type semiconductors 5, 5,.... A crack suppressing member, i.e., a fusion part 11, fills a crack generated in the thermoelectric element 3, a joint 10, etc. The fusion part 11 is composed of a low temperature solder or the like contained in the containing part 9 of the electrode 6 and has melting point of 183 deg.C, for example. When a crack is generated at the joint 10 due to deformation caused by thermal expansion/contraction, electric resistance increases to raise the temperature at the joint 10 or the like thus suppressing disconnection. |
