PURPOSE: To efficiently cool the elements of an electric rotating machine and an inverter by fixing the converter section and the inverter section of an inverter directly or indirectly to the housing and varying the shape of heat radiation fins or the housing. CONSTITUTION: When an inverter 12 is fixed to an electric rotating machine 8, a power element 11 of the inverter is located at the bottom part of inverter cover, i.e., the part closest to the housing. Fins 6 projecting from the housing are machined flat, at the forward end thereof, so that the fins are fitted tightly to the lower part of the cover when the inverter is fixed. Since the fins 6 touch the cover tightly, heat B generated from the power element 11 is dissipated through the fins 6. Furthermore, the electric rotating machine 8 is cooled by the cooling air A striking the cover directly thus enhancing the cooling efficiency of the inverter 12. This structure eliminates a cooler dedicated for the inverter. |
