POSITION DETECTOR FOR OBJECT OR THE LIKE

PURPOSE: To provide a simple apparatus which detects an object to be detected within a monitoring area including positional information. CONSTITUTION: Detectors D1 and D2 are arranged at an intermediate position in the height of a chamber outside corners adjacent to each other of the chamber. The detectors D1 and D2 comprise three photo detectors A (A1-A3), B (B1-B3) and C (C1-C3) of the same structure and one volume hologram H (H1-H3) placed in front thereof. The detector D1 monitors a monitoring area divided into seven zones 11 and 12-17 with the detector as core and the detector D2 does the area divided into seven zones 21 and 22-27 likewise. An object to be detected is determined to exist in a shaded range as an overlap of the zones where the object to be detected is detected by both the detectors D1 and D2.
