PURPOSE: To set a route matching the feeling of a user automatically by providing a CPU for automatically calculating a recommended route from an arbitrary starting point through a proximity passing points having an evaluation range to an arbitrary goal and storing a data, indicative of the recommended route, in an internal memory. CONSTITUTION: Based on a starting point being set by key operation on a keyboard and the positional information of a goal and passing points, a CPU calculates an optimal recommended route automatically by collating the road information read out from a map information storing medium, e.g. a CD-ROM, through a reader and stores the calculation results in a nonvolatile memory. When a point being passed absolutely is not set but a proximity passing point having an arbitrary range is set, an optimal recommended route to a next passing point or in the orientation of the goal is calculated by connecting a set position with one or more of a plurality of nodes present in an arbitrary range. In other words, a recommended route substantially passing a way desired by the user can be determined. |
