PURPOSE: To obtain a route guidance system which can indicate an intersection in a shape fitted to the traveling feeling of a driver at all times. CONSTITUTION: A decision is made whether a recommended path is present within a predetermined angle (S1) and when the recommended path is present within a predetermined angle, a decision is made whether another branch path is present (S2, S3). When only one more branch is present, a decision is made whether a recommended path is a road of the same class as the branch road (S4) and when it is a road of the same class, a decision is made whether the recommended path and the branch path are oriented symmetrically (S5). When they are not oriented symmetrically, the orientation is corrected (S6) and a recommended path is guided (S7) using the corrected orientation. |
