<p>PURPOSE: To speedily restore a sharp image if the picture quality of a reproduced image deteriorates on a reception-side device owing to a transmission error, etc. CONSTITUTION: A transmission-side device 11 is equipped with an image compressing means 13 which performs the in-frame encoding or inter-frame encoding of frames of a moving picture, a transmitting and receiving means 14 which transmits compressed image data and receives a frame kind switching indication from the reception-side device 21, and a switching means 16 which makes the image compressing means 13 perform the in-frame encoding on the basis of the received frame kind switching indication. The reception-side device 21, on the other hand, is equipped with a transmitting and receiving means 23 which sends the frame kind switching indication to the reception-side and transmission-side device for the compressed image data, an image expanding means 24 which expands the received image data, a picture quality deciding means 26 which decides whether or not the expanded dynamic image has specific picture quality, and a switching indicating means 27 which sends the frame kind switching indication unless the expanded image has the specific picture quality. If the picture quality deteriorates, the image data after the in-frame encoding are sent from the transmission-side device 11 to the reception-side device 21.</p> |
