PURPOSE: To obtain a position detector for moving body in which the position of window glass or the like can be detected highly accurately and the initial position thereof can be set without involving troublesome adjustment through a simple and small-sized structure at low cost while enhancing the assembling properties. CONSTITUTION: A ring gear 46 rotates together with the output shaft of motor and a predetermined rotational position is detected by means of a moving plate 50 secured to a cover plate 36 and a fixed terminal 60 provided on the ring gear 46. A control circuit 80 is contained at a board containing section 34A and thereby the size can be reduced.
