PURPOSE: To maintain a sufficient charge supply and supply a stable boosted potential to a load by a method wherein first and second P-MOS's and first and second N-MOS's which supply the respective boosted potentials which are generated in accordance with complementary pulses to the output nodes by the complementary on-off operations are provided. CONSTITUTION: A signal generating circuit 10 generates mutually complementary pulsesϕ1-ϕ8 which are respectively supplied to capacitors 21-28 in a charge pump circuit 20 to step up nodes N1-N8. N-MOS's 31-40 are turned on and off in accordance with the potentials of the nodes N1-N8 to control the on/off states of respective P-MOS's 41 and 43 and respective N-MOS's 42 and 44. The respective P-MOS's 41 and 43 and respective N-MOS's 42 and 44 transmit the potentials of the nodes N1 and N2 to a node Nout and a boosted potential Vpp is outputted. Therefore, by selecting the supply timings of the pulsesϕ1-ϕ8 properly, sufficient charge can be supplied to the node Nout and a required boosted potential can be obtained.
