PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal element excellent in the displaying quality by holding a substrate board coated with orientation control films under decompressed condition, and thereby removing impurities such as organic components exposed on the surfaces of the orientation control films. CONSTITUTION: Transparent electrodes 2a, 2b are formed by the sputtering method on the surfaces of glass substrate boards 1a, 1b, and insulative films 3a, 3b for preventing shortcircuiting are formed in such a way as to cover the electrodes 2a, 2b by means of photolithography. A fluorine containing polyimide resin is applied by the printing method on the surfaces of the insulative films 3a, 3b, and orientation control films 5a, 5b are formed. The glass boards 1a, 1b coated with the films 5a, 5b are held at room temp. for one hr under the decompressed condition (0.5atm), and the impurities are removed. The glass boards 1a, 1b are joined by a bonding agent 7 with a spacer interposed, and liquid crystal 9 is injected into the gap, and thus a liquid crystal display element P is constructed. |
