PURPOSE: To decrease the time for designing by forming a noncrystalline state area according to information in the recording film and reading out the information using difference in the reflectance due to changes in the optical const. between a crystalline state and a noncrystalline state. CONSTITUTION: An area in a noncrystalline state is formed on the recording film of the optical recording medium 1 according to information. The phase difference between the reflected lights from the noncrystalline state area and the crystalline state area is defined as fca . The groove depth formed on both sides of a recording track is defined as fg. The complex amplitude reflectance ratio of the complex amplitude of the reflected light from an unrecorded area in a crystalline state to the complex amplitude of the reflected light from a recording mark formed area in a noncrystalline state is defined as rca . These parameters satisfy the functions of a formula. Since the relation between the phase transition recording film construction and the grooves is simply expressed by the formula by using parameters, the optimum combination of them can easily be obtd. |
