<p>PURPOSE: To indicate the item to be selected in an easily understandable manner and to obtain a document preparing device featuring good operability by providing this device with a background color setting means and complementary color display means which are respectively specific. CONSTITUTION: Decision as to whether the color of the background of a region 303 indicting the selected object precluded from the assigned object is saved or not is first executed in accordance with a saving flag in order to cancel the inversion display of this region 303 when an input device 2, such as a keyboard, selects an icon 302 in the state of an initial menu and the region to indicate the selected object is defined as a region 304. The colors of the background and characters of a color saving table are set in the background and characters of a color management table when the background color is saved. The character color of the color saving table is set in the color management table and the icon 301 is displayed in accordance with the color management table if the background color is not saved. The fixed color is allotted to the display region including the selected object for the selected object, such as function menu, selected in such a manner and the color of the selected object is made into the complementary color of the set background color.</p> |
