PURPOSE: To utilize the detecting method of the slip and sliding of a railway rolling stock for controlling subsequent adjustable speed by measuring acoustic waves by means of an acoustic emission sensor through a wheel, an axle and a journal box when slip or sliding occurs and detecting the occurrence of the slip or sliding of the wheel by the difference of obtained frequency and sound pressure level thereof. CONSTITUTION: The sound pressure level 1 of an acoustic emission sensor (an AC sensor) during the stoppage of a car is lower than that 2 when a train travels without slip or sliding. When slip occurs, the sound pressure level 3 of the AE sensor is increased because a wheel accompanies self-excited vibrations. That is, when the normal state 2 is determined previously, slip can be detected easily by the magnitude of the sound pressure level of the AE sensor generated during acceleration from the car. Accordingly, when slip and sliding are controlled surely, the adjustable speed of a railway rolling stock can be made larger than conventional railway rolling stocks. |
