PURPOSE: To easily and surely input the position of a destination which is not stored in a navigation device. CONSTITUTION: Bar codes 52 of a map table 51 is record with the data indicating latitudes and longitudes. When a hotel 53 is to be set as a destination, a reading switch 162 is turned on, a reading section 14 is moved and the map of a reading range 54 is read and the result is displayed on a display section 15. At that time, the latitude.longitude data are also read by the bar code reader of the section 14. When an operator specifies the hotel 53 from the map display of the section 15 as a destination by touching the hotel 53 by the tip of a pen, the coordinates of the hotel are detected by a touch panel 161. A CPU calculates the latitude.longitude data of the destination from the coordinate position of the bar code, the corresponding latitude.longitude data, the coordinates of the destination and the scale of the map table.
