<p>A water intrusion test device, for testing housed filter elements of hydrophobic porous filters, has a housing (1) which contains at least one of the filter elements (5) and which has a connector (4) for external equipment, an evaluating unit (17) and a compressed gas source (7) which is connected to the housing inlet via a water-contg. pressure vessel (10) and a valve (12). On test pressure application, the water in the housing (1) is pressurised to create a test pressure in a space of known total net vol. and, on closing the valve (12), the pressure drop can be measured, the known total net vol. consisting of the space above the uppermost end of the filter (6) and the communicating inner vol. of the external equipment. The novelty is that: (a) an electric pressure sensor (15), communicating with the evaluating unit (17), is connected to the connector (4) for measuring the test pressure and the pressure drop; and (b) a pressure regulating system (8,8') is located between the compressed gas source (7) and the pressure vessel (10).</p> |
