THERMOPLASTIC THREADS CONTINUOUS CRIMPING PROCESS AND DEVICE

A texturing apparatus for producing a texturized thread according to a stuffer box crimping method comprises a conveyer duct 10 with an inlet opening for a transporting medium arranged at its upstream end and a stuffer box arranged downstream adjacent to the conveyer duct 10 as well as a cooling drum T arranged downstream of the stuffer box and a thread tension measuring device FSS arranged between the cooling drum T and a winding device SP. The transporting medium M is conditioned to a predetermined pressure bymeans of a first control circuit with a first PI-control device and to a predetermined temperature by means of a second control circuit with a second PI-control device, i.e. conditioned to a state required for texturing. The plug formation is initiated by means of a stemming air flow S which is controlled by means of a third control circuit with a pressure control device DR. A pressure gauge 3 measures the compressing pressure in the conveyer duct 10 and transmits the corresponding signal to a comparator unit V which activates safety precautions, activating e.g. a light signal 4 or thread scissors 8. According to the example shown the idea of the present invention resides in the fact that a measurable parameter corresponding to the crimp quality of the thread is measured e.g. the thread tension being measured by means of a thread tension measuring device FSS and that based on such measurements action is taken to e.g. vary the temperature of the transporting medium until the thread tension has reached a target value which is transmitted as a value WF to a thirdPI-control device which varies the target value PS of the first PI-control device until the thread tension has reached the target value WF.
