The handle (G) has an elliptical cross-section and at its top end (1) has a support for a blade (3). A finger protection area (7) is provided which joins the main handle section at a point (A2) where the cross-sectional width is similar to that at the base (17) of the handle. The handle is thicker in the middle and tapers towards each end and in addition has a sinusoidal external profile relative to a longitudinal middle line (M). The bottom outer edges of the handle run parallel to each other equidistant about an axis (x-x) which bisects the middle line of the handle at an acute angle ( alpha ).
