Biologically degradable glass fibre compositions

A glass fibre compsn. that is biologically degradable, comprising 45-60 wt.% SiO2, 0-2 wt.% Al2O3, 10-16 wt.% CaO + MgO, 14-20 wt.% Na2O + K2O, 7-18 wt.% B2O3, 0-4 wt.% P2O5, 1-5 wt.% BaO, 0-1.5 wt.% of oxides of Ti, Zr, Zn, Sr, Fe and Mn, and 0-0.5 wt.% diverse. The said glass fibre compsn. pref. comprises: a) 53-60 wt.% SiO2, 0-1.5 wt.% Al2O3, 10-13 wt.% CaO + MgO, 14-18 wt.% Na2O + K2O, 8-14 wt.% B2O3, 0-2 wt.% P2O5, 1.5-3 wt.% BaO, 0-1.5 wt.% of oxides of Ti, Zr, Zn, Sr, Fe and Mn, and 0-0.5 wt.% diverse; or b) 46-55 wt.% SiO2, 1.5-4 wt.% Al2O3, 10-14 wt.% CaO + MgO, 14-17 wt.% Na2O + K2O, 10-17 wt.% B2O3, 0-2 wt.% P2O5,3-5 wt.% BaO, 0-1.5 wt.% of oxides of Ti, Zr, Zn, Sr, Fe and Mn, and 0-0.5 wt.% diverse.The compsn. pref. contains up to 1.5 wt.% TiO2, ZrO2, ZnO, SrO, Li2O, Fe2O3, MnO and mixts. thereof, 0.1-2 wt.%, pref. 0.3-1.5 wt.% P2O5, and less than 2 wt.% MgO.
