SPRAY GUN TYPE ELECTROSTATIC PAINTING APPARATUS

A spray gun type electrostatic painting apparatus capable of improving the quality of a painted surface. An air nozzle (8) and a paint nozzle (21) are provided at a front end portion of a spray gun body (6), and the spray gun body (6) and air nozzle (8) are formed out of an insulating resin material, the paint nozzle (21) being formed out of a metal material, a paint spray port (21C) being projected from the air nozzle (8). The paint spray port (21C) is connected to the earth via a paint supply passage (10) and used as an earth electrode. The paint particles which have just sprayed reduce the influence of dielectric polarization, and immediately come to have earth potential. These paint particles are charged negatively at once with a high negative voltage of an external electrode. This can prevent the deposition of the charged paint particles on a negatively charged portion, such as the air nozzle (8), and the fall of deposited paint which soils a painted surface.
