A secretory signal gene which comprises a base sequence encoding a polypeptide capable of serving as a secretory signal in a fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe; an expression vector having this gene and a heterogenous protein structural gene; a multicloning vector having the above secretory signal gene and being useful in the construction of the above expression vector; and the secretory production of this heterogenous protein structural gene product at a high efficiency in S. pombe, etc.
