Endoscope with stereoscopic image effect

An endoscope has a tube (2) with a lens (9) set into the tip that focusses the image of the observed object into a fibre optic conductor (21) that has a further lens (22) directing the image onto a video camera. The tip section has lighting output groups (13,14) positioned on opposite sides and at the ends of conductors (11,12). The image is obtained with alternating lighting from the two groups and this creates a recorded image having a stereoscopic effect.
