A method and apparatus (10) for the application of one or more deposits of material (14) to a succession of discrete articles (12) such as fasteners is provided. The method and apparatus of the present invention deposits a droplet or extended bead (14) of thermoplastic or thermoset material onto the surface of a part (12) that is urged into a position once it solidifies to extend above the surface of the part (12) to create assembly resistance when the part is assembled into, or over, another part.
